Thangka Painting Class

 

Immerse yourself in the centuries-old tradition of Thangka painting under the guidance of highly experienced Thangka artists.


Thangka Painting Class

Class Duration: 1 hour per day
(Optional: stay an additional hour for self-practice in the workshop)


Available Time: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM


Minimum Booking: 6 days
(Please see below* or contact us for flexible options)


Booking is required to begin classes!


Payment: full payment upon booking


Location : Nayabasti, Boudha and Ramhiti, Boudha (Just a 10-15-minute walk from the Boudhanath Stupa!)


What to Bring: Sketchbook and basic stationery


Materials Provided: Canvas, colors, brushes, and all necessary painting supplies


Course fee

Price per hour: NPR 3000-5000 (final price depends on the subject- landscape, mandala, or deities) 


Extra Fees: use of 24K gold in your painting is available for an additional fee to be determined based on the thangka subject and the real-time price of the gold)


Course Outline:

  1. Introduction to Thangka painting and traditional techniques
  2. Thangka subject: Traditional Landscapes, Deities ( e.g. Buddha), or mandala( e.g. Lotus Mandala)
  3. Guided self-practice to develop patterns and refine skills
  4. Completion of your own hand-painted Thangka artwork to take home

  • 6 days per week
  • 1 hour per day

Intensive Schedule:

  • 2 days per week
  • 3 hours per day
